What We Believe

ABOUT THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God.

(II Timothy 3:16; Ephesians 3:5; II Peter 3:2)

ABOUT GOD

We believe that there is only one God, who revealed Himself to humanity in the person of Jesus Christ.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 3:16; John 14:9)

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

We believe that salvation is only found in Jesus Christ and is appropriated to humanity by God’s grace through the New Testament new-birth experience.
(Acts 4:12; Ephesians 2:8; John 3:3-7)

ABOUT SALVATION

We believe that the new-birth experience is comprised of repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit.  This is the New Testament pattern for all believers to follow as a result of their faith in Christ.
(Acts 2:38; Luke 13:1-5; Acts 10:44-48;  Acts 19:5-6)

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that when a person receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that person will speak with other tongues under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:4; Acts 19:6; Isaiah 28:11)

We believe that believers are called to live a holy, pure life before God and all humanity.
(2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1; Hebrews 12:14)

ABOUT THE NAME OF JESUS

The authority of God is vested in the Name of Jesus. (Philippians 2:9-10; Matthew 7:22; Mark 16:7; John 14:14; Acts 4:12).

All that the believer does “in word or deed” is to be done in Jesus’ NamE. (Colossians 3:17)

The Name of Jesus becomes our new “family name.” (I Corinthians 1:12-15; Romans 6:4: II Corinthians 5:17)

The authority of the Godhead is vested in the Name of Jesus!
(Philippian 2:9-10; Matthew 7:22; Mark 16:7; John 14:14;)

ABOUT MIRACLES

God’s power is still active in the church and healings, signs, and miracles are available to God’s people through faith in Jesus Christ.
(Hebrews 13:8; 1 Corinthians 2:4; 1 Peter 2:24)

ABOUT THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

We believe that the church will be raptured by Christ and will exist with Him forever in eternity.
(1 Thessalonians 4:15-18; 1 Corinthians 15: 51-52; 1 Thessalonians 1:10

How we worship

Aft Lyons believes in the value of worship and praise to Jesus.  The bible not only backs this but commands it and in accordance to scriptural authority it should be understood and followed.  Psalm 150 and other scriptures are as follows.

    • We engage in prayer together aloud because the Bible teaches us, "They lifted up their voice to God with one accord" (Acts 4:24).

    • We lift our hands in praise, for the Scriptures state, "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord" (Psalm 134:2).

    • We sing with wholeheartedness, as the Bible encourages us, "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise" (Psalm 98:4).

    • We incorporate musical instruments, as exemplified by the verse, "And all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments" (2 Samuel 6:5).

    • We clap and shout unto God, for it is written, "O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph" (Psalm 47:1).

  • We dance before the LORD, as the psalmist declares, "Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs" (Psalm 150:4).

  • We openly testify and declare God's name, following the words, "I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee" (Psalm 22:22).

  • We anoint with oil for divine healing, as instructed in the verse, "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord" (James 5:14).

  • We allow the operation of spiritual gifts, recognizing that when we gather, each one may have a psalm, doctrine, tongue, revelation, or interpretation (1 Corinthians 14:26).
